About the Role
Take full ownership of product quality by identifying risks early, understanding system failures in production, and preventing customer impact through thorough manual testing and collaboration with engineering and product teams.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to deliver stable, reliable user experiences across browsers, devices, and realistic usage conditions.
- Own product quality by analyzing user journeys, detecting potential issues early, and anticipating how systems fail in live environments.
- Evaluate modern web applications with deep knowledge of browser behaviors such as cookies, sessions, localStorage, and cross-device session management.
- Assess authentication methods including magic links, passwordless login, and OAuth/SSO integrations like Google and Microsoft.
- Validate subscription-based features, including billing processes, access controls, and edge-case handling.
- Apply expertise in release cycles, regression testing, and risk-based quality assurance strategies.
- Use BrowserStack or similar tools for testing across different browsers and operating systems.
- Conduct mobile emulation and real-device testing to ensure responsive and accurate behavior.
- Leverage Browser DevTools for inspecting network activity, analyzing console errors, and debugging cache and storage issues.
- Manage and track issues using tools such as Jira, Plane, or comparable platforms.
- Gain proficiency in analytics and error logging tools like Mixpanel and Sentry.
- Prioritize manual testing with a sharp focus on edge cases and meticulous attention to detail.
- Design test scenarios around real user behavior, not just ideal workflows.
- Identify regression-prone areas and maintain vigilance on recurring breakages.
- Test features that are partially developed or rapidly evolving.
- Independently verify bug fixes without relying on detailed reproduction steps.
- Ensure consistent quality standards across all environments and release stages.
- Interpret API responses, particularly RESTful services returning JSON data.
- Understand HTTP status codes and common error patterns in web communications.
- Recognize frequent frontend and deployment issues such as cache invalidation, chunk loading failures, and environment mismatches post-deployment.
- Report bugs and findings with clarity and structure in written form.
- Document issues by outlining clear reproduction steps and comparing expected versus actual outcomes.
- Proactively highlight potential risks and vulnerabilities before they affect users.
- Collaborate directly with developers and product managers to resolve quality concerns.
- Take responsibility for overall product quality, not just executing test cases.
