MSA Professional Services was looking for a Project Engineer Transportation

About the Role

The selected candidate will assist in managing transportation engineering projects from concept through construction, working closely with senior engineers and public agencies to deliver solutions that meet safety, efficiency, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and review of transportation design plans
  • Assist in preparing engineering calculations and technical reports
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Conduct field reviews and site inspections
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and regulations
  • Help manage project timelines and deliverables
  • Participate in client and agency meetings
  • Review contract documents and construction specifications
  • Assist in traffic analysis and roadway design tasks
  • Prepare and revise civil drawings using CAD software
  • Support environmental documentation efforts
  • Track project changes and maintain documentation
  • Provide input on cost estimates and construction budgets
  • Assist with permit applications and agency submissions
  • Review contractor submittals and shop drawings
  • Contribute to safety assessments and design reviews
  • Work with survey teams to interpret field data
  • Support public involvement activities as needed
  • Update project managers on progress and issues
  • Ensure quality control in deliverables

Required Education

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience with MnDOT or other DOT standards
  • Knowledge of intelligent transportation systems
  • Familiarity with project funding mechanisms like STP or CMAQ
