Responsibilities

  • Conduct discovery research such as user interviews, literature reviews, support analysis, and product analytics to identify user needs.
  • Summarize findings and share them clearly with the team.
  • Engage in assumption mapping and collaborate with Design, Product Analytics, and Engineering to run experiments.
  • Log enhancement requests in the backlog and work with requestors to identify the underlying problem.
  • Gather basic inputs to score problems and opportunities, and help prioritize which to address.
  • Participate in opportunity mapping for prioritized items to identify potential solutions.
  • Develop and promote a product strategy and one-year roadmap aligned with the overall portfolio.
  • Understand target outcomes and business cases for your product area, and create roadmaps and requirements focused on delivering value.
  • Ensure epics include a viable plan to track progress toward outcomes.
  • Use story mapping and splitting techniques to break down initiatives into epics and stories that deliver incremental value quickly.
  • Collaborate with multiple functions to ensure breakdowns can be implemented efficiently.
  • Coordinate with engineering to create the list of stories and epics for each sprint based on priority, effort, capacity, and dependencies.
  • Write epics and stories with comprehensive, clear, and concise information and strong acceptance criteria.
  • Lead refinement sessions and answer questions as needed.
  • Track sprint progress and notify stakeholders of delays.
  • Work with peers and cross-functional teams to unblock dependencies or escalate issues.
  • Collaborate with Product Analytics to identify UI and API events that help understand user experience and adoption, and document tracking needs in stories and epics.
  • Prepare release notes, update living documents, and answer questions during rollout as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience in product management.
  • Minimum 3+ years of product management and/or product design experience.
  • 3+ years managing complex initiatives from start to finish using product management processes and best practices.
  • Experience defining and implementing product metrics to track performance and success.
  • Experience handling all stages of product delivery.
  • Experience representing various customers and stakeholders during planning.
  • Solid understanding of basic P&C insurance technology, including functionality, limitations, advantages, and future direction.
  • Basic understanding of the insurance technology ecosystem, including common integrations and dependencies.
  • Skilled at managing products with an active development roadmap.
  • Proficient at influencing product and cross-functional business teams through earned leadership and strong communication skills.
  • Experience working in agile software delivery.
  • Able to develop and present complex problems in a straightforward way.
  • Exceptional verbal, oral, and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • 2+ years experience working with rating platform and rules engine.
  • 2+ years experience building software platforms in insurance for business-critical functions such as rating, underwriting, and insurance configuration.
  • 1+ years of advanced knowledge of Guidewire product models, specifically working on Guidewire Policy Center, with knowledge of its function in underwriting/sales workflows, policy rating, rules engine, and Guidewire product models.
  • 2+ years experience working with Property & Casualty insurance platform.
