ON.energy is hiring a Product Manager - HMI & SCADA

Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete design lifecycle of Ignition Perspective interfaces, from initial concept and wireframing to final deployment.
  • Create intuitive and consistent layouts for system overviews, single-line diagrams, dashboards, alarm displays, trend visualizations, and reporting tools.
  • Build and manage a standardized design system including UI components, color palettes, icons, and layout grids for all SCADA projects.
  • Establish and uphold visual and interactive guidelines to ensure a unified product experience across all implementations.
  • Optimize interface performance and layout for use on control room displays, field tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Define how each screen functions, including data presentation, update mechanisms, user actions, and alarm handling.
  • Design efficient navigation paths, screen structures, and interaction sequences that reduce operator effort during routine and emergency operations.
  • Conduct usability evaluations and feedback sessions to uncover workflow inefficiencies or operator challenges.
  • Refine screen designs using data from operator behavior, alarm logs, support issues, and on-site observations.
  • Ensure compliance with human factors principles and industry standards for control room interface design.
  • Act as the main contact for all HMI and SCADA interface requirements, collecting input from operators, site leads, project teams, and clients.
  • Facilitate structured sessions for gathering requirements, reviewing designs, and walking through screen prototypes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with controls engineers and development teams to ensure accurate implementation of screen specifications.
  • Present interface designs, prototypes, and updates to clients and team members, incorporating feedback and managing change requests.
  • Document screen details including layout, tag mappings, interaction logic, and acceptance conditions.
  • Deliver training to operators and client teams on new interface features during system commissioning and handover phases.
  • Manage and prioritize a backlog of interface enhancements, new views, and component updates across current and future projects.
  • Balance client-specific needs with the creation of reusable, scalable screen templates that strengthen the overall platform.
  • Coordinate with project managers to align screen delivery timelines with project milestones and commissioning schedules.
