AECOM is hiring a Principal Solar Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design solar PV systems using PVSol, PVSyst, PVCase, and other industry-standard PV design software.
  • Support projects by producing design layouts, system specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Conduct technical site surveys across the UK.
  • Attend client meetings, build strong relationships, and help develop effective technical solutions.
  • Support the commercial team in the preparation of technical submissions and tender documentation.
  • Uphold a robust health and safety culture across the business.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest electrical standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrate technical excellence and pride in delivering high-quality project outcomes.
  • Apply BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and the IET Code of Practice for Solar PV Installations throughout project delivery.

Requirements

  • Experience in designing solar PV systems using industry-standard software such as PVSol, PVSyst, or PVCase.
  • Ability to produce design layouts, system specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Experience conducting technical site surveys.
  • Strong client-facing skills including attending meetings and building relationships.
  • Knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and the IET Code of Practice for Solar PV Installations.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Understanding of electrical standards, codes, and industry best practices.

Additional Information

  • Role involves travel across the UK for site surveys.
  • Projects include commercial-scale rooftop, carport, floating, and ground-mounted solar PV systems.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems is relevant.
  • Projects span the UK and EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
  • Involves work on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
