About the Role

Snowflake seeks a Principal Security Architect to serve as a security evangelist, architect, and hands-on subject matter expert within the APJ Field CTO Office. In this role, you will focus on designing and advising on security mechanisms for the Snowflake AI & Data Cloud, cultivating key customer relationships, and acting as a trusted security advisor across the region.

What You'll Do

  • Scope security-related feature enhancements on behalf of customers and work with Product Management to improve the product from a security perspective.
  • Assist in clarifying concepts of data engineering, data warehousing, data collaboration, AI and Machine Learning, share industry best practices, and assist in building demos and prototypes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Support to drive customer security feature adoption.
  • Work and collaborate with other Field CTO members in areas of Enterprise AI, Gen AI, Data Engineering, and Applications as a security expert.
  • Partner with the product team to help shape vision and capabilities for Snowflake Data Marketplace.
  • Share knowledge with internal and industry communities via webinars & conferences.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of industry, customer-facing, and hands-on implementation experience with a core focus on data concepts, privacy, governance, networking, infosec and security technologies.
  • Proven experience engaging with CxO-level stakeholders (CISO, CTO, CIO) to articulate Snowflake's security architecture, data protection capabilities, and risk posture.
  • Strong understanding of security concepts such as Authentication and Authorisation, Identity and Access Management, Encryption and Data Governance.
  • Expertise and in-depth working knowledge and hands-on experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and its corresponding security, data encryption, and networking architecture and technologies.
  • Ability to build out demos, configure CSP environments, build out prototypes, and test use cases on the Snowflake platform and relevant integrations.
  • Ability to create security and networking-related reference architectures, security best practices and hardening guides.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, OWASP, MITRE ATT&CK and how to articulate controls and security mechanisms within a Risk Assessment centred approach.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, IP routing, DNS, Proxies and CSP private networking technologies including NAT, Firewalls, TLS and related design and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, presentation and whiteboarding skills to a large audience.
  • Fair understanding of the culture diversity across Asia Pacific Japan region and flexibility of working with customers and colleagues from multiple APJ time zones.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or related field.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of ANSI SQL compliant databases and / or data warehousing.
  • Knowledge of Gen AI / LLM Security Principles, Threat Modelling and Appropriate Controls.
  • Master's degree.
  • Hands-on expertise with SQL, Python, and APIs.
  • Hands-on expertise with software containerisation in Kubernetes, including the use of Terraform or similar technologies.
  • AWS/Azure/GCP security or networking specialty related current/valid certifications.
  • Any security operations experience in a Security Operations Environment.
  • Experience in Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) and Infosec Auditing.
  • Outstanding skills in presenting to both technical and executive audiences, whether impromptu on a whiteboard or using presentations and demos.
  • Experience selling enterprise SaaS software.
