Responsibilities
- Apply deep distributed systems knowledge to design, build, and operate core parts of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering, directly affecting global customer experience.
- Enhance Elasticsearch components that enable concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
- Maintain the cluster coordination system to ensure high performance as nodes join and leave and data moves, while preserving system safety and liveness.
- Extend the limits of Elasticsearch regarding the number of shards, nodes, and petabytes it can handle.
- Investigate various issues, including performance and concurrency problems, and propose solutions.
- Assist support engineers with complex problems.
- Own operational investigations from start to finish until performance or stability issues are fully resolved.
