Responsibilities
- Apply deep distributed systems knowledge to design, build, and operate core parts of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering, directly affecting global customer experience.
- Enhance Elasticsearch components that enable concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
- Maintain the cluster coordination system to ensure high performance despite node changes and data movement, while preserving system safety and liveness.
- Push the boundaries of Elasticsearch's capacity in terms of shards, nodes, and petabytes.
- Investigate various issues, including performance or concurrency problems, and propose solutions.
- Assist support engineers with complex technical challenges.
- Own operational investigations from start to finish until performance or stability issues are fully resolved.
