AECOM is hiring a Principal Hydrologist

About the Role

This position involves leading hydrologic studies and modeling efforts for complex water resources projects, providing technical direction, and supporting sustainable water management solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of hydrologic models for watershed and stormwater systems
  • Oversee data collection and analysis for surface and groundwater systems
  • Design and manage flood risk assessment studies
  • Support environmental compliance and permitting for water-related projects
  • Guide the preparation of technical reports and engineering documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers and environmental scientists on integrated project teams
  • Conduct statistical analysis of precipitation and streamflow data
  • Evaluate impacts of climate variability on water resources
  • Provide technical leadership on large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Ensure modeling accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
  • Lead field investigations and site assessments
  • Develop hydrologic designs for drainage and flood control systems
  • Review project deliverables for technical quality and consistency
  • Mentor junior staff in hydrologic methods and software tools
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies on water resource issues
  • Support project proposals and scope development
  • Apply GIS tools to spatial hydrology analysis
  • Integrate remote sensing data into hydrologic assessments
  • Assess watershed response to land use changes
  • Manage project timelines and technical budgets
  • Promote innovative approaches to water sustainability
  • Ensure alignment with federal, state, and local water regulations
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary environmental impact studies
  • Lead peer reviews of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
  • Support emergency response planning for extreme weather events
