Resolve to Save Lives is hiring a Principal Advisor, Surveillance and Digital Architecture and Governance (Remote - US, UK, Nigeria, Ethiopia, or France)

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning for the Surveillance and Digital Architecture and Governance initiative within the broader epidemic intelligence framework.
  • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to public health leaders, donors, international partners, and non-specialist staff.
  • Represent the initiative in global technical discussions, partnerships, and donor engagements.
  • Advise senior leadership on global trends in digital health, artificial intelligence, and stakeholder positioning.
  • Collaborate with peer leads to align responsibilities across data science, country implementation, and governance functions.
  • Monitor shifts in the digital health ecosystem, including AI advancements, and guide country support strategies accordingly.
  • Recruit, manage, and mentor a multidisciplinary team in architecture, engineering, product, and informatics.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment emphasizing practical problem-solving and real-world implementation.
  • Establish performance expectations, delegate effectively, and support high-quality output from team members.
  • Mentor staff and in-country partners in product development, system design, and governance practices.
  • Deliver direct technical guidance to national health agencies on data infrastructure, digital transformation, and governance policies.
  • Assist country teams in selecting context-appropriate solutions for system development, integration, and oversight.
  • Navigate political and stakeholder dynamics while applying sound technical and change management approaches.
  • Guide and review national strategies for collaborative surveillance data architecture, building on existing systems.
  • Support governments in addressing governance challenges related to cross-sector and cross-disease data integration.
  • Provide guidance on ethical and context-sensitive use of artificial intelligence in public health surveillance.
  • Help design and roll out a training curriculum in data architecture and engineering for broader country adoption.
  • Act as a central node for knowledge exchange, linking country experiences with tools and technical resources.
  • Encourage sharing of best practices and generate insights across supported countries.
  • Partner with data use and decision science teams to ensure architecture supports actionable insights.
  • Coordinate with legal and governance teams to align data policies with institutional objectives.
  • Apply principles of product development, user-centered design, and software engineering to technical deliverables.
  • Set development priorities, manage iterative delivery, and ensure user adoption of digital tools.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in digital implementation across countries.
  • Oversee program coordination for at least one pilot country, including planning, contracts, and budget management.

Compensation

For applicants based outside the US, salaries are set according to national labor rates for the international NGO sector.
