About the Role
The Medical Biller will handle billing and reimbursement tasks, maintain patient account records, and ensure compliance with insurance and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Process patient billing and insurance claims accurately
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for services
- Submit claims to insurance providers in a timely manner
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to resolve issues
- Maintain detailed records of billing and payment activity
- Respond to inquiries from patients regarding account balances
- Communicate with insurance companies to clarify coverage
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations
- Post payments and adjust accounts as needed
- Generate reports on billing performance and outstanding balances
- Assist with audits by providing accurate billing documentation
- Coordinate with clinical staff to verify service codes
- Update billing databases with current patient and insurance data
- Monitor accounts for timely payment and follow up as required
- Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes
Nice to Have
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) credential preferred
- Experience working in behavioral health or mental health settings
