Responsibilities
- Design and adapt database systems for both on-premises and cloud platforms, focusing on availability, speed, and fault tolerance
- Handle advanced-level database support, resolve intricate technical issues, and conduct in-depth root-cause investigations across SQL, storage, clustering, RAC, and performance domains
- Enhance database efficiency using query optimization, indexing methods, capacity tracking, and ongoing refinement efforts
- Establish and manage data protection plans, including backup protocols, recovery processes, disaster recovery testing, and failover execution
- Lead significant infrastructure changes such as system upgrades, data migrations, and architectural overhauls with emphasis on risk mitigation and documentation
- Take part in round-the-clock on-call support to manage urgent database incidents and collaborate with technical teams when necessary
- Create automation tools and support CI/CD workflows to standardize database setup, updates, monitoring, and reporting tasks
- Apply and maintain security controls like encryption, audit logging, data masking, and adherence to internal and external compliance requirements
- Create and update technical records including high-level and low-level designs, operational guides, and standard procedures, while contributing to organizational knowledge sharing
