Responsibilities
- Administer Oracle databases including versions 10g, 11g, and 12c.
- Oversee database backups, archiving, logging, user access, security, storage allocation, and performance metrics.
- Conduct performance analysis, tuning, and resolution of critical database issues in production environments.
- Support Oracle and SQL-based application databases through installation, maintenance, upgrades, and daily operations.
- Evaluate and enhance database configurations to ensure reliable connectivity and responsive end-user experience.
- Offer expert guidance on physical database design, system architecture, testing strategies, and performance optimization.
- Generate or review reports on database activity, progress, and performance; maintain thorough documentation.
- Monitor, debug, and tune SQL queries; suggest and apply configuration improvements for efficiency.
- Enhance data access methods, system availability, data integrity, and overall database performance.
- Assist in selecting, deploying, and managing database monitoring tools and technologies.
- Build and sustain complex, highly available database systems; convert logical models into physical implementations.
- Ensure physical database designs adhere to enterprise standards and are correctly deployed.
- Strengthen recovery capabilities by developing, updating, and managing restore and recovery procedures.
- Take part in disaster recovery planning and execution testing.
- Deliver after-hours on-call support for enterprise databases and related systems.
- Establish and roll out best practices for emerging technologies, and mentor team members through knowledge sharing.
