Geeks on Site is seeking an On-Call IT Field Technician to provide onsite technical support for residential and small business customers in Salt Lake City, UT. This is a flexible, on-call independent contractor role with no guaranteed hours, where you will troubleshoot PCs, Macs, printers, scanners, and networks, working independently at customer locations.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS systems
- Resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
- Set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
- Replace or upgrade hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
- Configure or connect printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
- Address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)
- Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
- Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
- Install remote tools or shortcuts as requested
- Communicate clearly with customers and provide basic post-service support
- Document service visits and escalate complex issues as needed
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS systems
- Experience resolving boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
- Ability to set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
- Experience replacing or upgrading computer hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
- Hands-on experience configuring or connecting printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
- Ability to address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)
- Experience performing general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
- Ability to reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
- Excellent customer communication skills and ability to provide basic post-service support
- Ability to document service visits and escalate complex issues as needed
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work independently at various customer locations
