Geeks on Site was looking for an On-Call IT Field Technician- Salt Lake City, UT- Hiring Now

Geeks on Site is seeking an On-Call IT Field Technician to provide onsite technical support for residential and small business customers in Salt Lake City, UT. This is a flexible, on-call independent contractor role with no guaranteed hours, where you will troubleshoot PCs, Macs, printers, scanners, and networks, working independently at customer locations.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS systems
  • Resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
  • Set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
  • Replace or upgrade hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
  • Configure or connect printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
  • Address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)
  • Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
  • Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
  • Install remote tools or shortcuts as requested
  • Communicate clearly with customers and provide basic post-service support
  • Document service visits and escalate complex issues as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS systems
  • Experience resolving boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
  • Ability to set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
  • Experience replacing or upgrading computer hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience configuring or connecting printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
  • Ability to address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)
  • Experience performing general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
  • Ability to reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
  • Excellent customer communication skills and ability to provide basic post-service support
  • Ability to document service visits and escalate complex issues as needed
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work independently at various customer locations
