Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance and keep up to date with occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, permits and internal policies.
- Conduct workplace inspections and safety audits on a regular basis.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented within agreed timelines.
- Identify workplace hazards and evaluate operational risks.
- Conduct and update risk assessments for work activities, equipment and processes as well as recommend and implement appropriate control measures to reduce risks.
- Monitor high-risk activities and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and occupational illnesses.
- Prepare detailed investigation reports and root cause analyses.
- Recommend corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain records and statistics related to workplace incidents and injuries.
- Develop and deliver occupational health and safety training programmes.
- Conduct induction sessions for new employees and contractors.
- Promote safety awareness campaigns and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Ensure employees are informed on emergency procedures and safe work practices.
- Develop and maintain emergency response procedures and evacuation plans.
- Coordinate fire drills, emergency exercises and first aid readiness.
- Ensure emergency equipment and systems are regularly inspected and maintained.
- Coordinate occupational health surveillance programmes where applicable.
- Monitor workplace conditions related to ergonomics, hygiene and employee wellbeing.
- Liaise with Company Doctors, medical practitioners, insurers and regulatory authorities when required.
- Maintain OHSM manuals, procedures, registers and records.
- Prepare monthly and annual safety reports and KPI analyses.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 or equivalent management systems.
- Ensure all safety documentation is properly controlled and updated.
- Ensure contractors comply with company safety requirements.
- Conduct contractor safety inductions and monitor contractor activities.
- Ensure visitor safety procedures are implemented effectively.
- Recommend initiatives to improve workplace safety culture and operational safety performance.
- Participate in management meetings and provide technical safety advice.
- Support organisational sustainability and continuous improvement objectives.
- Ensure all medical protocols are being maintained and monitored for all employees.
- Provide and arrange health training.
- Advise management promptly on any medical matters.
- Trigger management for any pandemic issues accordingly.
Requirements
- Degree in related field
- At least ten years’ experience in OHS management
- Registered Nursing Officer
- Registered Occupational Health and Safety
- ISO 45000 (Implementation and Maintenance of the systems)
