About the Role
This role is for an experienced Network Operations Engineer to join a collaborative shift team, delivering high-quality service for fibre, wavelength, and Ethernet solutions. As a Tier 2 Engineer, you will lead proactive network monitoring, incident resolution, change coordination, and service restoration using technical expertise, while supporting Tier 1 staff and ensuring clear communication with customers.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the core infrastructure of a pan-European telecom network
- Take ownership of incidents from detection through to resolution, meeting defined SLA goals
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues impacting customer services
- Remotely validate and troubleshoot data and transmission circuits, coordinating with external vendors when necessary
- Manage and prioritize incident tickets, ensuring timely handling and SLA compliance
- Maintain accurate records in the ticketing system and identify areas for process improvement
- Escalate issues to suppliers proactively based on incident needs
- Collaborate with internal departments during incident response and change execution
- Engage relevant internal teams to accelerate incident resolution
- Oversee scheduled network changes as documented in the change management system
- Provide regular updates to customers throughout incident lifecycles
