Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and secure automated information systems and network components.
- Design and apply technical security measures for advanced information systems following RMF, NIST, and DoD standards.
- Evaluate system configurations, identify vulnerabilities, and assess risks across systems, software, and infrastructure.
- Deploy, configure, and verify cybersecurity tools used for threat detection and system protection.
- Assist in creating, updating, and managing authorization documentation such as SSPs, POA&Ms, and related security artifacts.
- Analyze the security implications of system modifications and propose effective engineering controls.
- Engage in incident response efforts, including tracking, root-cause investigation, and corrective actions.
- Offer expert guidance on secure systems engineering practices to technical teams and decision-makers.
- Supervise the integration of cybersecurity throughout system lifecycles, from design to sustainment.
- Support vulnerability management through scanning, evaluation, remediation planning, and progress reporting.
- Produce security reports, threat assessments, and risk summaries to inform leadership and program decisions.
- Work with maintenance leadership to ensure urgent system repairs meet cybersecurity standards and minimize risk.
- Help refine cybersecurity processes, tools, and procedures in line with current DoD and NIST guidance.
