Emerson is looking for a New Product Development Firmware Design Engineer to join its Valve Business Unit. You will drive new design concepts from prototype and testing through to global production, ensuring standards and processes are maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Uphold safety as the primary value in all activities.
- Brainstorm design solutions for challenges reported by customers and sales teams.
- Design, implement, test, and debug firmware from requirements to production.
- Review code and designs to ensure high-quality, successful solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional design and development teams.
- Investigate industry trends and adopt new technology.
- Assist in determining project timelines and resource requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement of engineering processes.
- Support the long-term vision and management of the product portfolio.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Proficiency in engineering fundamentals and sound technical decision-making.
- Solid programming experience in C and C++.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization, planning, and time management.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of reading schematics and component data sheets.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice to Have
- Five or more years of experience in firmware design and development.
- Hands-on development and troubleshooting experience on embedded targets.
- Proven experience in embedded systems design with a preemptive, multitasking RTOS.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviews.
- Experience following a well-defined software development process.
- Knowledge of Modbus and HART protocols.
- Experience with Object-oriented Design and UML.
- Experience with C#.
