Position Summary: The Lead Network Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of network infrastructure for Emory’s research computing environments. This role provides leadership in planning, deploying, and maintaining high-performance networking solutions that support data-intensive research across science and engineering disciplines. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the design and deployment of scalable, secure, and resilient network architectures for research computing environments. - Collaborate with research teams, IT professionals, and vendors to ensure network solutions meet performance, security, and compliance requirements. - Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for complex network issues. - Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, policies, and procedures. - Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in networking and research infrastructure. - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to cross-functional team initiatives. Qualifications: Required: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with demonstrated leadership experience. - Expertise in routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless technologies. - Strong knowledge of network security principles and protocols. - Experience with high-performance and research networking environments. Preferred: - Advanced degree in a technical field. - Industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP). - Experience with software-defined networking (SDN), network automation, and cloud networking.
