Responsibilities
- Conducts assessments and plans the layout of fiber and copper cabling systems, power setups, conduits, patch panels, and butterfly diagrams in coordination with certified electricians.
- Returns work sites to their original or improved state after project completion.
- Evaluates existing premises and documents current internal and external network configurations.
- Supports infrastructure design efforts and provides input for the Site Planning and Routing Implementation Package (SPRIP).
- Assists in developing preliminary and final SPRIP documentation and project drawings in accordance with U.S. Government and industry standards.
- Installs physical cabling systems including fiber, copper, power connections, conduits, patch panels, and butterfly diagrams, working alongside BICSI-certified engineers or licensed electricians.
- Ensures post-installation site restoration to original or enhanced conditions.
- Performs quality assurance checks aligned with industry practices, Department of Defense, and Department of the Air Force requirements.
- Deploys and verifies grounding systems for safety and performance.
- Maintains compliance with safety protocols and worksite cleanliness standards, contributing to project deliverables and performance tracking as needed.
- Executes pre-deployment and acceptance testing to confirm system performance meets design specifications.
- Applies specialized knowledge across multiple complex assignments and supports the development of project outputs and metrics.
- Operates under the guidance of a senior engineer or project manager but is capable of independent work on network cabling tasks.
