Responsibilities
- Maintains and repairs wired, wireless, and mobile broadband networks in response to faults, errors, incidents, and problems.
- Performs hands-on support for all network hardware components.
- Monitors network assets in compliance with service level agreements.
- Executes break/fix procedures and scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Analyzes network dashboard data, identifies issues, troubleshoots escalated incidents, and coordinates operational reporting.
- Provides expert knowledge on LAN, WAN, firewall, and related network technologies; diagnoses outages to restore service rapidly.
- Leads root cause investigations and recommends solutions for infrastructure issues; deploys and supports remote access tools including VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix.
- Applies foundational knowledge of network engineering principles and adapts to new technologies; understands routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
- Configures and manages network devices using Cisco command line interface.
- Resolves complex network problems to full resolution.
- Evaluates and implements approved change requests following formal change management procedures.
- Serves in a hands-on Tier 2 technical role, performing site assessments, network design, configuration, installation planning, and documentation.
- Works extensively with wireless systems, virtual private networks, intrusion prevention systems, WAN optimization devices, and related technologies.
