Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and VPNs.
- Support LAN, WAN, VLAN, routing, switching, NAT, DNS, DHCP, and IP addressing configurations.
- Assist with firewall rule creation, policy review, VPN setup, and secure remote access configuration.
- Apply network security best practices across firewall, VPN, segmentation, and access control configurations.
- Monitor network performance and implement measures to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Work directly with clients to understand network requirements, constraints, and business needs.
- Configure client-side or customer-specific network components such as firewall rules, VPN tunnels, IP allowlists, NAT rules, and routing changes.
- Guide clients through required network changes in a clear and structured way.
- Troubleshoot client connectivity issues across VPNs, firewalls, cloud networks, and on-premise environments.
- Translate technical findings into clear explanations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure network compliance with security policies and best practices.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations and procedures.
- Stay current with emerging networking technologies and incorporate them as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 1–4 years of experience in network engineering, network administration, infrastructure support, or a related technical role.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and VPN concepts.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches, or wireless network equipment.
- Familiarity with firewall policy configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience troubleshooting network issues using tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup/dig, tcpdump, Wireshark, or firewall logs.
- Basic understanding of network security principles, including segmentation, least privilege, secure remote access, and access control.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients and internal teams.
- Comfortable participating in client meetings and explaining technical topics in practical terms.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Nice to Have
- Experience with firewall platforms such as Fortinet FortiGate, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Check Point, Sophos, pfSense, or similar.
- Experience with cloud networking in OVH, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with site-to-site VPNs, IPsec, SSL VPN, remote access VPN, and client VPN configurations.
- Experience with SD-WAN or multi-site network environments.
- Knowledge of load balancers, reverse proxies, WAFs, or secure web gateways.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds, LibreNMS, Datadog, Grafana, or similar.
- Understanding of security standards or frameworks such as ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks, SOC 2, or NIST.
- Certifications such as CCNA, Network+, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSA, or equivalent.
- Experience working in a managed services, consulting, SaaS, or client-facing infrastructure role.
