Network Engineer (Cisco, Palo Alto, BGP, Firewalls & Enterprise Infrastructure) Full-Time | Remote | U.S. Business Hours About the Role We’re hiring a technically strong and proactive Network Engineer to design, configure, secure, and maintain enterprise-grade network infrastructure across production environments. What You’ll Own Enterprise Network Configuration & Maintenance Configure and manage: Routers Switches Firewalls VPNs Work across technologies including: Cisco Juniper Palo Alto Fortinet Implement and maintain: VLANs QoS VPN Tunnels ACLs Network Segmentation Configure routing protocols including: BGP OSPF EIGRP Perform: Firmware upgrades Patch management Hardware maintenance Monitoring & Troubleshooting Monitor network health using: SolarWinds Nagios PRTG Zabbix Diagnose: Latency Packet loss Routing instability Failover issues Use tools such as: Wireshark TCPdump Resolve escalated network incidents and provide: Root cause analysis Remediation documentation Network Security & Compliance Enforce: Firewall policies ACLs Segmentation strategies Intrusion prevention systems Support security and compliance initiatives involving: PCI-DSS HIPAA SOX GDPR Implement: Zero Trust networking principles Secure remote access VPN security best practices Support tools such as: Snort Suricata Performance Optimization & Reliability Conduct: Bandwidth analysis Capacity planning Failover testing Load balancing optimization Maintain: High availability Network redundancy 99.9%+ uptime Proactively identify risks before outages occur Documentation & Governance Maintain: Network diagrams Topology maps Runbooks Configuration documentation Use: Visio Lucidchart ITIL change management workflows Ensure all changes are documented accurately Cloud Networking & Infrastructure Projects Collaborate with: DevOps teams Cloud engineers Infrastructure teams Support: AWS VPCs Azure VNets GCP networking Hybrid cloud environments Participate in: Office expansions Migrations Data center deployments Infrastructure upgrades Required Experience & Skills 3+ years of experience in: Network Engineering Infrastructure Engineering Enterprise Networking Strong hands-on experience with: Cisco Palo Alto Fortinet Juniper Deep understanding of: TCP/IP VLANs QoS VPNs ACLs BGP OSPF Experience with: Monitoring tools Troubleshooting tools Packet analysis Strong documentation and communication skills Ideal Experience CCNP / CCIE certifications Palo Alto or Fortinet certifications Experience with: AWS VPC Azure networking Hybrid cloud networking Familiarity with: Python Ansible Terraform Network automation Experience supporting: Multi-site enterprise networks High-availability environments What Makes You a Great Fit Strong troubleshooting instincts under pressure Highly detail-oriented and process-driven Proactive mindset focused on preventing outages Excellent communicator who can explain technical concepts clearly Comfortable balancing operations, troubleshooting, and project work Passionate about network reliability, security, and optimization What a Typical Day Looks Like Monitor dashboards and respond to network alerts Troubleshoot routing, VPN, or firewall issues Configure switches, firewalls, and routing policies Support migrations and cloud networking integrations Update network diagrams and change documentation Optimize bandwidth and failover performance Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams on projects In short: You ensure enterprise networks remain secure, reliable, optimized, and highly available across production environments.
