The NERC O&P Compliance Standards Specialist will support AES’s compliance efforts within its growing Transmission and renewable energy portfolio. This role ensures adherence to NERC Reliability Standards and plays a key part in maintaining industry-leading compliance, reliability, and security practices across AES operations.
What You'll Do
- Act as the Compliance Business Partner for AES Operations & Planning (O&P) Compliance.
- Serve as the technical authority within the O&P group, ensuring timely implementation of O&P NERC Reliability Standards Requirements by AES.
- Support the execution of internal controls through conducting risk assessments and incorporating lessons learned.
- Monitor Standards drafting teams and advise SMEs regarding updates or revisions to NERC Compliance Standards.
- Assist with audit preparations, self-certifications, spot-checks, internal compliance reviews, self-reports, mitigation strategies, RSAWs, and supporting documentation.
- Carry out annual reviews of processes and procedures, integrating updates into current O&P practices.
- Analyze gaps arising from new Standards and develop processes that uphold compliance, reliability, and security of AES assets.
- Review and verify evidence demonstrating compliance with relevant NERC Standards, offering guidance to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) when needed.
- Engage in industry forums and outreach initiatives.
- Provide internal oversight into new projects, ensuring identification of applicable NERC Standards.
- Four Year bachelor’s in engineering degree or equivalent Experience
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience
- Ability to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance
- Strong verbal and writing skills, technical and non-technical
- Experience with Protection Systems; Facility Ratings, SCADA Systems, Transmission Planning etc.
- Highly motivated, self-starter willing to take on new challenges
- Prior NERC O&P and utilities compliance experience including compliance monitoring, training, and audit support
