Responsibilities
- Collect details on current events with journalistic integrity.
- Research, write, and deliver balanced and factual news and feature content.
- Remain up to date on developments in local and national news.
- Build and sustain relationships with sources to uncover exclusive content.
- Conduct investigations to verify facts and uncover truths.
- Deliver written scripts on-air with confidence, with or without teleprompter support.
- Cover news events, producing truthful and impartial reports as assigned.
- Present news live from studio and remote field locations.
- Develop and contribute to special reports and news packages, whether breaking or pre-planned.
- Produce content for non-linear digital platforms associated with KVDA.
- Serve as a camera operator when necessary due to staffing needs.
- Support producers in sourcing, planning, and executing investigative stories, maintaining a continuous pipeline of story ideas and documentation.
- Submit at least three story pitches daily to the assignment desk via email.
- Schedule interviews through phone outreach, including during non-standard hours.
- Work evening, overnight, and weekend shifts as required.
- Participate in community events and public appearances connected to audience engagement.
- Collaborate effectively within a team facing daily time constraints.
- Collect news material and prepare it for broadcast and digital distribution.
- Contribute suggestions on show content and structure to producers.
- Write headlines and updates for TV, web, and digital channels.
- Present news segments professionally on-air.
- Communicate breaking news during live broadcasts and outside scheduled programming.
- Film and edit promotional content, including promos, bumpers, IDs, show opens, and marketing materials.
- Produce and present news stories using video production expertise, lighting, and editing.
- Deliver video-based reports on assigned topics.
