Responsibilities
- investigating and diagnosing bugs in production Python applications
- implementing code fixes and enhancements for Azure-hosted applications
- maintaining and improving existing Python codebases
- refactoring and optimising application code
- designing, creating and executing automated tests
- validating fixes in development and staging environments
- developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and API integrations
- working with Docker containers and supporting containerised deployments
- ensuring reliable MQTT communication and message processing
- monitoring application logs and performance metrics
- documenting code changes and updating technical documentation
- participating in code reviews and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- supporting deployments through Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
Requirements
- proven experience in Python development and maintenance
- hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services
- practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery
- good knowledge of Docker and containerised applications
- experience with RESTful APIs and API integrations
- practical experience with MQTT protocol and messaging systems
- experience with automated testing using pytest or unittest
- understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
- knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud-native applications
- good understanding of asynchronous programming in Python
- ability to analyse, troubleshoot and resolve production issues
- ability to work with existing and legacy codebases
- attention to detail and commitment to code quality
- good communication skills and ability to work in a distributed team
- good command of technical English (at least B2 level)
Nice to Have
- experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work
- interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches
