About the Role

The role involves managing medical malpractice litigation from intake through trial, including conducting investigations, drafting pleadings, taking depositions, and preparing cases for court.

Responsibilities

  • Manage medical malpractice cases from initial evaluation through trial preparation
  • Conduct thorough investigations into healthcare provider conduct and patient outcomes
  • Draft complaints, motions, and other legal documents for court submission
  • Perform legal research on healthcare regulations and precedent-setting cases
  • Interview clients and medical experts to gather case details
  • Take and defend depositions of medical professionals and fact witnesses
  • Analyze medical records and clinical data for evidence of negligence
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and exhibit organization
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation strategy
  • Advocate in court during hearings and trial proceedings
  • Communicate regularly with clients about case progress
  • Maintain compliance with court deadlines and procedural rules
  • Evaluate new case intakes for legal merit and liability
  • Work with medical experts to develop opinions and testimony
  • Coordinate discovery exchanges with opposing counsel
  • Identify standards of care relevant to each case
  • Assess damages and potential compensation for clients
  • Participate in settlement discussions and negotiations
  • Prepare trial binders and courtroom presentations
  • Stay current on changes in medical and legal standards
  • Support appellate efforts when necessary
  • Ensure ethical representation in all client interactions
  • Maintain detailed case files and documentation
  • Contribute to firm-wide knowledge on emerging malpractice trends
