Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat animal health conditions while advising pet owners on proper care practices
- Lead, guide, and support a team of 1 to 5 veterinarians to promote engagement and professional growth
- Work with the Regional Medical Director and Talent team to recruit, integrate, and retain high-caliber veterinary professionals
- Coordinate with operations staff to schedule veterinarians and maintain consistent clinical coverage
- Champion organizational culture and core values among team members and clients
- Act as the primary clinical resource for complex medical cases or concerns
- Ensure service availability, including surgery appointments and doctor coverage, meets client demand
- Maintain high standards of hospitality in every client interaction
- Supervise and mentor veterinarians in clinical abilities and performance metrics such as client satisfaction, collaboration, medical quality, documentation, and productivity; conduct regular performance discussions to support development
- Collaborate with the Practice Manager to strengthen coordination between medical and client service teams
- Partner with nursing leadership to promote transparent communication, ongoing learning, and clinical excellence
- Track financial results and collaborate with leadership to meet budgetary and revenue objectives
- Oversee controlled substance management, review drug and supply orders, and ensure compliance with DEA regulations
- Ensure adherence to medical protocols in surgery, dentistry, and diagnostics, as well as regulatory standards from DEA and OSHA
