Guide nonprofit clients through financial strategy, reporting, and compliance as a key leader in outsourced accounting services. You will manage financial statement preparation, oversee budget development, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, all while operating fully remotely within Eastern or Central time zones.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the creation of financial statements, forecasts, and performance reports for nonprofit organizations
- Assess funding needs and investment strategies, providing actionable recommendations
- Design and implement internal controls for budgeting, cash management, and accounting processes
- Lead financial planning initiatives, including procurement and investment oversight
- Track financial ratios and KPIs to evaluate organizational health
- Supervise accounting staff, providing direction and performance feedback
- Advise leadership on financial strategy, policy, and long-term planning
- Engage with boards, lenders, and stakeholders through clear, timely communication
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
- Minimum of six years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting
- Proven experience managing or supervising teams
- Strong grasp of GAAP, including FASB standards, or other comprehensive bases of accounting
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial operations preferred
- CPA certification or completed exams a plus
- Experience with public accounting or back-office accounting functions
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Intacct, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities effectively
- Strong organizational skills and self-direction
