About the Role
The Manager, Transmission Market Analysis is responsible for guiding transmission strategy across the project lifecycle, from initial site selection to interconnection agreement execution, ensuring projects are positioned for timely and cost-effective grid access.
Responsibilities
- Lead analysis of transmission infrastructure and grid interconnection opportunities
- Evaluate market access pathways for renewable energy projects
- Develop strategies for optimal project interconnection timing and routing
- Assess regional transmission planning trends and regulatory developments
- Collaborate with engineering and development teams on project feasibility
- Model transmission costs and constraints for project portfolios
- Support due diligence for project acquisitions involving grid access
- Engage with transmission operators and stakeholders
- Prepare technical and strategic memos on grid integration challenges
- Track policy changes affecting transmission access and market participation
- Guide project siting based on transmission availability and cost
- Manage third-party transmission studies and consultants
- Forecast long-term transmission capacity and congestion trends
- Integrate transmission insights into project development timelines
- Support interconnection application processes
- Identify risks related to grid reliability and interconnection queues
- Develop recommendations for network upgrades or reinforcements
- Analyze transmission-related costs in financial models
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional grid operations
- Contribute to strategic planning for project pipeline optimization
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in energy, engineering, or public policy
- Direct experience with interconnection queue strategies
- Knowledge of transmission tariff structures
- Experience in distributed or bulk power systems
- Familiarity with transmission modeling software such as PSS/E or PowerWorld
- Prior work with independent system operators
- Understanding of federal and state transmission incentives
- Experience analyzing congestion revenue rights
- Background in utility or developer-side transmission planning
