Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between legal, sales, and finance to speed up contract reviews and remove obstacles to revenue.
- Advise sales and leadership on deal terms, balancing profitability with acceptable legal risk.
- Partner with sales and finance to structure commercial agreements that meet financial goals, comply with revenue recognition standards, and reflect risk tolerance.
- Create predictive models and scenario analyses to guide decisions on long-term contracts and organizational expansion.
- Lead negotiations on customer and vendor contracts while maintaining standardized approval workflows and contracting protocols.
- Manage and enhance the contract lifecycle management (CLM) system to ensure efficient document handling and real-time deal tracking.
- Develop and maintain negotiation guides and template libraries to promote consistency across all commercial contracts.
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of legal technology tools, including CLM, e-billing, and matter management platforms such as Tropic and DocuSign.
- Design automated, scalable contracting workflows for common agreements like NDAs, MSAs, and SaaS contracts to enable self-service by sales and finance teams.
- Maintain a centralized library of approved contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and standard legal language.
- Supervise relationships with external law firms, ensuring billing compliance and cost-effective fee arrangements.
- Build dashboards to monitor performance metrics including contract cycle times, legal spending by category, and deal processing speed.
- Act as the main connection point between legal, finance, sales, and IT to align legal operations with company-wide objectives.
- Identify automation opportunities using AI or process improvements to increase legal team efficiency.
- Develop reporting tools to track KPIs such as contract processing time, spending by matter type, and law firm performance.
- Deliver strategic insights to the CFO on contractual delays, legal spending risks, and operational inefficiencies.
