Responsibilities
- Offer strategic and technical guidance to health ministries for designing and enhancing AI governance frameworks, workforce capacity, infrastructure, and digital and data systems.
- Perform and consolidate research on AI trends, tools, and emerging practices in health to guide organizational strategy and country-level projects.
- Facilitate the AI Commons for Global Health by coordinating stakeholders and managing operations.
- Cultivate and oversee relationships with key partners, including health ministry counterparts, acting as a trusted advisor on AI-related priorities.
- Develop and sustain connections with technology firms, funders, and global health collaborators to achieve shared AI-for-health objectives.
- Create tools, frameworks, and resources for health ministries and internal teams to evaluate AI readiness and plan implementation.
- Identify innovative and practical solutions to new challenges in a rapidly evolving and often ambiguous technical and policy environment.
- Assist in developing work plans, budgets, and reporting materials for AI-focused programs.
- Prepare presentations, briefs, and other materials to explain complex technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences, including government officials and donors.
- Coordinate across country and global teams to ensure alignment and knowledge exchange on AI-for-health approaches.
- Represent the organization at relevant conferences, working groups, and partner meetings concerning AI for health.
- Contribute to fundraising by drafting proposals and donor updates related to AI-for-health work.
- Mentor and support team members as needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 4-8 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in AI, digital health, or health systems strengthening.
- Strong research skills with ability to quickly synthesize complex information and translate it into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience building relationships with government officials, partners, and funders.
- Creative problem-solving ability, comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-evolving environments with limited precedent.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including ability to prepare compelling presentations and technical materials for varied audiences.
- Exceptional work ethic with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously and prioritize effectively under tight timelines.
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in public health, public policy, data science, computer science, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working in countries where the organization operates and with government stakeholders highly preferred.
- High level of comfort leveraging AI workflows for research and resource creation preferred.
- Additional language skills relevant to the organization's country programs are a plus.
Other
This role will require extensive travel, including the program countries, to support ministries of health and represent the organization at partner convenings.
