Responsibilities
- Provide client server support for problem and change tickets surrounding the Linux infrastructure
- Assess situation to determine problem facing the client
- Create documentation explaining the solution to the problem
- Implement changes to the client’s environment
- Provide pager coverage and off-shift support as required
- Support Sev1/Sev2 incident & problem tickets for client servers
- Perform problem determination and implementation of changes to hardware and/or software
- Create and update high quality documentation for maintaining and administering the Linux platform, including architectural, technical, and process documentation and user guides
- Assess platform capabilities and architectural needs and make recommendations to Governance team for enhancements to the platform
- Work closely with the governance team to envision, plan and implement new directions
- Work to standardize repeatable tasks and steps within a team
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior team members
- Create documentation or scripts that can be used to solve the same problem in the future
- Experience in Virtualization - proven knowledge on hypervisor
- Create Virtual adapters like NIC, FC, SCSI
- Manage & assign the Luns to different LPAR's
- Design, implement and operate a scalable and reliable system infrastructure supporting fast growth
- Analysis and tuning over xSeries Servers
- Recommend operating system updates and configuration modification
- Manage system-level configuration across multiple server nodes using Puppet or similar tools
- Provide support and technical expertise for applications running in the production environment
- Provide system support including off shift on call support as and when required
- Increase staff skill levels by cross training
- Facilitate or engage in problem solving to create a continuous improvement culture
- Establish scripted and automated processes for deployments and configuration changes
- Working knowledge of firewalls, load balancers and switches
Requirements
- Level 3 Linux Technical Support experience
- Problem determination and resolution for Linux infrastructure
- Experience in Virtualization - proven knowledge on hypervisor
- Create Virtual adapters like NIC, FC, SCSI
- Manage & assign the Luns to different LPAR's
- Experience on GPFS (General Parallel File System)
- LVM (Logical Volume Manager) administration
- Design, implement and operate a scalable and reliable system infrastructure
- Analysis and tuning over xSeries Servers
- Recommend operating system updates and configuration modification
- Manage system-level configuration across multiple server nodes using Puppet or similar tools
- Experience with OS storage (SAN) configuration & maintenance
- IBM SVC, Hitachi, EMC
- Experience in planning and scheduling periodical maintenance for all hardware, firmware upgrade in Linux Platform
- Experience with one of the hypervisor (Citrix XenCenter, VMWare, or KVM)
- At least 7+ years experience in Linux, Solaris, Veritas Cluster, Veritas Volume Manager, AIX, CentOS
Nice to Have
- Unix shell scripting (Korn and/or Perl) is a plus
- Experience with VMware is plus
Work Arrangement
On-site — Mumbai
