About the Role
This role requires defining both the technical foundation and strategic direction for lifecycle marketing without inherited systems or a supporting team, enabling outsized influence on long-term customer engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle marketing strategy, including acquisition follow-up, re-engagement of drop-offs, onboarding, activation, retention, and win-back efforts across multiple financial products.
- Create and manage lifecycle messaging using AI tools for drafting, then collaborate with Product, Legal, and Compliance to finalize copy for regulated audiences.
- Establish clear ownership boundaries with Product teams to distinguish between product-led touchpoints and lifecycle-led communications to prevent overlap.
- Collaborate directly with Engineering and Data teams to design event-triggered systems and define necessary data tracking for personalized customer journeys.
- Build and manage Braze infrastructure, including Canvas workflows, segmentation, dynamic content, and journey orchestration, based on jointly defined technical specifications.
- Maintain the data integration between Segment and Braze, ensuring accurate identity resolution and consistent event tracking.
- Develop a comprehensive measurement framework for lifecycle marketing, linking KPIs to business outcomes such as conversion, retention, and revenue growth.
- Exercise strategic judgment in prioritizing initiatives and sequencing work based on company stage and needs, without waiting for direction.
- Ensure all lifecycle communications comply with regulatory requirements in a financial services context.
- Serve as the internal authority on lifecycle marketing systems, educating stakeholders across RevOps, Sales, Customer Success, and leadership.
Requirements
- 6-8+ years in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing, including experience in fintech or another regulated sector.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Braze or similar platforms, including building Canvases and managing automation flows.
- Proficiency with Segment or comparable CDPs, particularly in identity resolution, event tracking, and pipeline design.
- Proven ability to work directly with Engineering and Data teams to co-design event-based marketing systems.
- Demonstrated experience in defining and executing lifecycle or retention strategies independently.
- Strong analytical skills to define KPIs, build reporting structures, and guide roadmap decisions with data.
- Ability to operate in ambiguous, early-stage environments without existing infrastructure or teams.
- Excellent writing skills and experience using AI tools to draft and refine customer messaging, with familiarity navigating legal and compliance reviews in regulated industries.
Nice to Have
- Experience in B2B environments in addition to B2C or direct-to-consumer roles.
- Familiarity with data warehouse technologies such as BigQuery or dbt.
