Eleos Health is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to maintain our current data infrastructure and spearhead its evolution to a modern cloud platform. This critical role involves diagnosing complex issues in a custom legacy codebase while contributing to the strategic migration to a cloud-based data stack.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and advanced SQL.
- Act as a key technical contributor in the migration from a custom legacy stack to a modern cloud data platform like Snowflake or Databricks.
- Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve complex issues in existing data pipelines and systems.
- Develop custom integrations for new data sources, including third-party APIs.
- Take ownership of technical tickets and project deliverables, working autonomously.
- Ensure system health through daily monitoring, inspections, and automated recovery processes.
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of recent, hands-on experience in a Data Engineering role.
- Advanced proficiency in Python with deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming.
- Expert-level SQL skills, including writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex queries, Stored Procedures, and Functions.
- Proven ability to design, build, and maintain robust, scalable custom ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Practical experience with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
- Basic familiarity with AWS services such as EventBridge and Batch, and experience running jobs within a Spark environment.
- Demonstrated ability to autonomously troubleshoot and resolve issues within complex and unfamiliar codebases.
- Experience mentoring other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
- Experience with or desire to learn data orchestration tools like Airflow and dbt.
- Previous experience working with legacy systems such as DB2 or Denodo.
- General familiarity with Infrastructure as Code principles and tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
