Responsibilities
- Operate, set up, and maintain Litho, inline double web, Harris M10, mini web 6-color, and multi-color offset presses for printing jobs with complex color and registration requirements.
- Analyze job specifications to determine proper press configuration based on sheet layout and run sequence.
- Complete all pre-production tasks including plate or cylinder installation, image alignment checks, blanket preparation, and tension adjustments.
- Inspect plates and cylinders for defects and ensure accurate image positioning before starting the run.
- Adjust color settings and press mechanics during make-ready to meet strict quality standards.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance on press equipment.
- Conduct manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance procedures.
- Promote and uphold a safe, injury-free workplace environment.
- Oversee all press operations and manage the press crew effectively.
- Ensure final printed products meet quality benchmarks for color, imaging, specifications, and postal compliance.
- Determine whether printed materials meet acceptable standards for retention.
- Produce sample pieces that reflect final product quality.
- Monitor crew members' performance and workflow during production.
- Record accurate data on time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds.
- Communicate clearly with other departments including scheduling, prepress, and maintenance teams.
- Coordinate the make-ready process by reviewing job details, planning setup steps, and assigning crew duties.
- Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule and use the Request For Action system to report equipment issues.
- Train and mentor other team members, sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
