Responsibilities
- Lead the long-term development of an automated testing practice, advancing from a basic Playwright foundation to a robust, AI-supported system that scales with a shift from monolithic to service-oriented architecture.
- Select appropriate testing tools for each level of the test pyramid, including end-to-end, API, contract, integration, and performance testing, with clear justification and integration strategy.
- Design and manage test integration within CI/CD pipelines using ArgoCD, defining test gating, execution scope, rapid feedback mechanisms, and trust-building over time.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive test data strategy, environment management approach, and engineering patterns to ensure test reliability as system complexity increases.
- Take full ownership of the primary application's test suite, writing tests, fixtures, helpers, and frameworks that validate functionality across the member platform and public marketing site.
- Ensure test coverage spans the existing .NET backend, Next.js frontend, and newly developed services, aligning testing efforts with architectural progression.
- Prioritize usability, stability, and accessibility as core quality metrics, with testing strategies that validate these aspects alongside functional correctness.
- Leverage artificial intelligence to enhance test creation, maintenance, and coverage, enabling a single engineer to effectively manage a broad and complex product surface.
- Collaborate as a full member of a cross-functional team including frontend, backend, data, design, and product roles, ensuring quality is embedded in all deliverables.
- Contribute to agile processes by representing quality and customer perspective during planning, identifying risks and edge cases, and delivering automated tests with each feature.
- Serve as a strategic quality advocate, anticipating issues, guiding team decisions, and mentoring through high-quality code, insightful reviews, and hands-on collaboration.
