Capital One Software is hiring a Lead, Software Engineer, Data & AI to join our Rapid Prototyping Team. You will be responsible for building and prototyping new features for a next-generation data and cloud security platform, leveraging state-of-the-art Data & AI technologies.

What You'll Do

Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience.
Make impactful, hands-on contributions from scoping and design to coding and operations.
Stay current with tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor other engineers.
Collaborate with product managers to translate requirements into engineering tasks.
Own and drive cross-functional partnerships with Engineering, Platform, Design, Data Science, Security, and GTM teams.
Drive innovations on building AI-enabled agents and fine-tuning LLM models for data classification and sensitive data detection.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s Degree.
At least 4 years of software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply).
At least 2 years experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).
Hands-on experience with Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes.
At least 3 years experience in a programming language: Java, Python, C++, Rust or Go.

Nice to Have

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electric Engineering or related fields.
Prior experience in building Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) system.
Proficient in SQL.
Hands-on experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
Experience in cloud-based lakehouses such as Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Athena.
Experience in open source data governance/catalog platforms such as Datahub, OpenMetadata or Atlas.
Hands-on experience in building production scale agentic AI systems.
Familiar with tools such as Langchain, Langgraph, and MCP.
Hands-on experience in fine-tuning LLM, and deployed to productions to serve customers.
2+ years of experience in Agile practices.

Benefits & Compensation

Salary Range: $175,800 - $200,700 for Manager, Software Engineering.
