JUPUS GmbH is hiring a Lead Software Engineer to join as a primary technical contributor, scaling our legal tech software platform from end to end. This full-stack, Python-first role requires you to own critical services and user-facing features while guiding technical standards, mentoring teammates, and making key decisions to build secure, observable, and performant systems.

What You'll Do

Architect and implement robust, scalable solutions for the product suite.
Design and develop sophisticated systems.
Establish best practices for software development, testing, and deployment across products.
Initially handle development across the stacks as a core technical contributor.
Work with the Head of Engineering to build a high-performing team as initiatives expand.
Maintain significant hands-on coding involvement even while leading the team.
Work closely with product, design, and AI Engineers to release new features.
Partner with the Head of Engineering and leadership on Engineering roadmap planning.
Translate complex software concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

Production-scale Python and Django knowledge and clean architecture.
Front-end experience with Vue 3 or React.
Proven experience scaling software for production.
Rigorous testing: pytest, integration/e2e (Cypress), contract tests.
Automation-first mindset: CI/CD (GitHub), Docker, IaC (Terraform).
Data layer mastery: PostgreSQL tuning, Redis caching, queues/streams (RabbitMQ/Kafka).
API design & maintenance: REST/GraphQL, versioning, documentation.
Security by default: OWASP, OAuth/OIDC/JWT, GDPR-aware data handling.
Ability to work independently as the primary technical contributor handling all aspects of development.
Comfort with hands-on coding and technical work even after building a team.
Experience mentoring and developing technical talent.
Excellent communication skills for explaining complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to create and execute Software roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
Strong communicator and mentor who aligns engineering trade-offs with product goals.
Outcome-driven problem solver focused on delivering measurable user value.
Must be located in the CET -2/+2 time zone.
