Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of the design system from strategy to execution
- Define and deliver the system's roadmap with clear priorities
- Determine which components to develop, retire, maintain, or expand
- Maintain tight integration between Figma, Storybook, and Zeroheight
- Ensure each concept has a single, well-documented source of truth without redundancy
- Collaborate with front-end teams on contribution processes, component interfaces, and design-to-code translation
- Understand and evaluate component code logic, not just visual design
- Manage ongoing governance tasks such as audits, deprecations, documentation upkeep, and naming standards
- Design the system so AI and LLM-based prototyping tools can generate accurate outputs with minimal deviation
- Leverage AI in daily workflows to audit patterns, draft documentation, scaffold components, and test API designs
- Recognize product managers using AI as a key user group for the system
- Use deviations from the system by AI users as feedback to improve clarity and usability
- Share successful practices and patterns across teams
- Ensure broader design and product teams benefit from insights into AI-compatible system design
- Begin ideation and planning within large language models
- Use Claude to refine goals, draft concise product requirement documents, and identify risks early
- Prototype using Claude Code to generate functional components
- Guide generated components on structure, behavior, and quality standards
- Integrate AI as a core productivity tool across all stages of work
- Develop custom Claude plugins and Skills to standardize design prompts
- Measure and communicate the system's impact through metrics like adoption, contributions, speed to ship, and consistency
- Make system work visible through demos, write-ups, and shared documentation
- Present and discuss system updates in critiques and reviews
- Support and guide designers contributing to the design system
