Fluidstack is hiring a Lead, Network Connectivity & Strategy

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with telecommunications carriers, dark fiber suppliers, and connectivity providers.
  • Negotiate master service agreements, IRUs, and circuit contracts to secure favorable terms.
  • Maintain a comprehensive matrix of carrier capabilities, pricing, and lead times across all operational markets.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for carrier capacity needs and preferred partner for collaboration.
  • Oversee end-to-end circuit procurement, from initial requirements to contract signing, provisioning, and testing.
  • Procure various types of connectivity, including dark fiber, lit wavelengths, dedicated internet access, and transport services.
  • Track all circuit orders through to activation using disciplined project management practices.
  • Ensure datacenter launches proceed without delays caused by missing or late connectivity.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and carrier engineering teams to confirm physically diverse fiber routes to each facility.
  • Analyze KMZ files, fiber path maps, and conduit records to verify true physical diversity beyond logical separation.
  • Assess entrance facilities, meet-me rooms, and demarcation points for technical compatibility and redundancy.
  • Proactively identify potential single points of failure in network architecture.
  • Lead planning and monitoring of construction projects involving new conduit, lateral builds, or fiber extensions.
  • Coordinate between carriers, construction teams, and regulatory agencies during buildouts.
  • Account for standard construction phases—permitting, trenching, splicing, testing—when scheduling projects.
  • Align connectivity delivery timelines with datacenter build milestones.
  • Contribute to backbone network design by recommending POP locations based on carrier availability, interconnection options, latency, and cost.
  • Evaluate colocation sites for suitability as backbone network nodes.
  • Forecast capacity needs and plan circuit upgrades in advance of projected demand.
  • Provide critical insights that inform national network buildout decisions.
  • Support peering discussions with internet service providers, content networks, cloud platforms, and exchange operators.
  • Analyze the economic viability and technical options for interconnection at proposed sites.
  • Manage cross-connect ordering and letter of authorization processes.
  • Ensure interconnection strategy accommodates existing traffic and anticipated growth.
  • Act as the expert on connectivity during datacenter site selection processes.
