Kirby Group Engineering is hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer - Milan

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering execution across all project phases
  • Supervise and allocate tasks to mechanical engineering personnel within defined work packages
  • Manage the end-to-end design control process, either directly or through delegated leads
  • Take ownership of commissioning readiness, ensuring systems are constructible, testable, and delivered on schedule
  • Champion health, safety, and environmental standards by enforcing safe work practices and demonstrating on-site leadership
  • Provide technical oversight during procurement, including RFQ preparation, vendor evaluation, equipment selection, and delivery monitoring
  • Ensure quality assurance throughout design, installation, and commissioning via ITPs, test documentation, factory and site acceptance tests, inspections, and handover procedures
  • Collaborate with electrical and control systems teams to define clear system interfaces and responsibilities
  • Manage technical documentation including system logs, submittals, RFIs, non-conformances, and change requests
  • Direct commissioning operations such as system flushing, balancing, pressure testing, and certification
  • Proactively identify technical and scheduling risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate when necessary
  • Contribute to project planning, commissioning phasing, and forward scheduling activities
  • Support business growth by maintaining strong relationships with clients, designers, and contractors
  • Coach and develop junior and graduate engineers to strengthen team competencies
  • Deliver structured and transparent reporting to senior engineering and executive management
