Responsibilities
- Define and implement the lighting direction in alignment with the game's overall art style.
- Establish and uphold lighting standards to maintain a consistently high visual quality.
- Design lighting that enhances mood, visual composition, clarity, and emotional tone across diverse scenes.
- Lead lighting efforts for real-time gameplay sequences and in-engine cutscenes to ensure visual cohesion.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce high-quality marketing and promotional content with strong visual impact.
- Ensure lighting solutions are adaptable and effective across both gameplay and cinematic contexts.
- Serve as the primary expert on UE5 lighting systems, including hands-on use of Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, exposure settings, and post-processing effects.
- Leverage UE5's advanced lighting features to maximize visual fidelity without compromising performance or stability.
- Work closely with Technical Art and Engineering teams to investigate new lighting features and optimize workflows.
- Build productive partnerships with Engineering to develop and refine lighting techniques and tools.
- Take ownership of lighting-related performance metrics, proactively identifying bottlenecks and guiding solutions.
- Contribute to the evolution of lighting pipelines, tools, and debugging methods for greater efficiency.
- Provide clear artistic and technical direction to lighting artists through reviews, feedback, and direct collaboration.
- Assist in planning and scoping lighting tasks, identifying dependencies, and supporting team-wide production goals.
- Champion high standards of lighting quality and consistency throughout all stages of development.
