Black & Veatch is hiring a Lead I&C Engineer

The Lead I&C Engineer provides on-site construction support and manages QA/QC inspection services for instrumentation and controls systems on major CCGT projects. This role includes technical direction, interpretation of contract specifications, coordination with engineering personnel, and ensuring adherence to quality standards throughout construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subcontractors with technical information and guidance in line with contract requirements to maintain project schedule
  • Interpret engineering specifications and collaborate with project engineers and superintendents to resolve technical issues
  • Supply necessary drawings and data while directing work in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Deliver on-site I&C construction support and oversee BV's QA/QC inspection activities
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly progress review meetings to monitor project status
  • Review all construction-related engineering documents including procedures, plans, drawings, specifications, QA/QC records, inspection logs, test witnessing, and Site Acceptance Tests
  • Conduct inspections and witness I&C-related activities according to approved Inspection and Test Plans and milestone test events
  • Perform inspection of I&C components at off-site fabrication, storage, and laydown facilities, including imported equipment and packaged materials
  • Verify the availability and completeness of QA/QC documentation and certifications for I&C systems
  • Identify, track, and compile punch list items and non-conformance reports related to I&C work
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams to obtain technical clarifications and resolve design issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited U.S. program or equivalent foreign engineering program recognized in the country of origin or practice
  • 0 to 1 year of experience in construction management for similar facility types
  • 1 to 2 years of engineering design experience
  • Ability to meet pre-employment requirements including background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review in compliance with applicable laws

Nice to Have

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a comparable role
  • Prior experience on CCGT projects
  • Involvement in construction and commissioning of two large CCGT projects
  • Over 5 years serving as Lead Site Engineer on CCGT projects
