Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design of primary electrical systems for high-voltage substations, typically ranging from 33kV to 400kV.
- Assume full technical responsibility for HV main plant design packages across various projects.
- Design and supervise the selection and specification of critical substation elements such as busbars, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, and supporting structures.
- Ensure all engineering designs meet safety, efficiency, and compliance requirements per industry standards and client specifications.
- Create and approve detailed substation layouts, including general arrangements, equipment elevations, and routing of cables and conduits.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and support to early-career and mid-level engineers.
- Collaborate with civil, protection, control, and secondary systems teams to deliver fully integrated and optimised substation designs.
- Lead technical evaluations, feasibility analyses, and early-stage concept development activities.
- Act as a principal technical contact for clients and external stakeholders.
- Support project execution through effective planning, prioritisation, and proactive risk management.
- Assist procurement processes by developing technical specifications, assessing vendor proposals, and reviewing technical documentation.
- Lead formal design reviews and safety assessments, including HAZID and HAZOP studies, ensuring adherence to regulatory and safety standards.
- Offer expert engineering support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Promote ongoing improvements in design methodologies, innovation, and engineering standards.
