About the Role
This role leads the preparation and review of cost estimates for industrial projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client specifications and project goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of detailed cost estimates for industrial construction and engineering projects
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine scope and requirements
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to gather necessary data
- Identify and quantify labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Prepare preliminary and detailed estimates at various project phases
- Maintain and update historical cost databases for accuracy and consistency
- Support proposal development and client presentations with cost analysis
- Evaluate risks and contingencies related to project budgets
- Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability
- Track estimate variances and provide explanations for deviations
- Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize project costs
- Manage multiple estimates simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Mentor junior estimators and provide technical guidance
- Improve estimating processes through technology and best practices
- Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and requirements
- Assist in change order evaluation and cost impact analysis
- Maintain confidentiality of project and client information
- Support project closeout by reconciling final costs with estimates
- Use estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Ensure documentation is complete and audit-ready
- Stay current with industry trends, materials, and construction methods
- Work closely with operations teams to align estimates with execution plans
- Provide input on bid/no-bid decisions based on cost and risk analysis
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating standards
