About the Role
The Right of Way Acquisition Specialist will lead efforts in securing property rights for infrastructure projects, working closely with clients, landowners, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely and compliant project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Identify property interests affected by proposed infrastructure projects
- Conduct title research and review legal descriptions
- Communicate with property owners regarding acquisition needs
- Negotiate purchase and easement agreements
- Prepare acquisition documentation for closing
- Ensure compliance with federal and state right of way regulations
- Coordinate with surveyors and engineers on parcel details
- Maintain accurate records of all acquisition activities
- Support project timelines by meeting acquisition deadlines
- Resolve property boundary or ownership disputes
- Assist in the development of project-specific acquisition strategies
- Prepare reports for internal and client review
- Work with attorneys on condemnation processes when necessary
- Manage relationships with local government agencies
- Track acquisition budgets and expenditures
- Provide updates to project managers on acquisition status
- Review environmental and zoning constraints affecting parcels
- Facilitate public meetings when required
- Ensure landowner rights are respected during acquisition
- Use GIS tools to map and analyze property data
- Support due diligence for land transfers
- Assist in relocation assistance planning
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive property data
- Stay current with real estate and land use laws
- Participate in field visits to project sites
