What You'll Do
Take ownership of our core infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across hybrid environments. You'll manage Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 services while enhancing identity security through Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access and SSO integrations.
Lead cybersecurity improvements by driving system hardening, patching, vulnerability management, and maturing our Essential Eight compliance. Help operationalise Microsoft Sentinel by integrating data sources and refining alerting logic to improve threat detection.
Architect and maintain scalable Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions to support national growth. Serve as the top-tier escalation point for complex infrastructure, identity, and networking issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime.
Strengthen network security through firewall configuration, segmentation strategies, and secure remote access via site-to-site and user VPNs. Use advanced PowerShell scripting to automate system provisioning, configuration, and compliance checks across environments.
Support secure operating environments by maintaining server build standards, SOE compliance, and reliable backup and monitoring systems. Document architectures, processes, and network designs clearly to support knowledge sharing and audit readiness.
Requirements
- Minimum of four years in systems engineering or infrastructure administration with hands-on Microsoft ecosystem experience
- Proven expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, and Microsoft 365 management
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell or Power Automate for automation and operational efficiency
- Experience hardening systems, managing vulnerabilities, and improving endpoint and identity security
- Familiarity with firewall administration (Sophos preferred), routing, switching, and secure remote access
- Ability to support SUSE Linux systems within a primarily Windows-based environment
- Track record of delivering end-to-end technical upgrades with thorough documentation and stakeholder coordination
- Experience creating technical diagrams, architecture documentation, and operational runbooks
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team members
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience applying ASD Essential Eight mitigation strategies. Exposure to ISO 27001 or SOC 2 compliance frameworks is highly valued.
