Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and maintain data interfaces that connect hospital systems like HIS and EHR with laboratory information management systems.
- Manage the development of 3 to 4 concurrent interface projects, delivering 10 to 15 projects annually.
- Deliver each interface solution within 90 days, adjusting timelines based on client capabilities and resource availability.
- Respond to and resolve a fair share of support incidents related to the CorePoint integration environment.
- Work closely with laboratory personnel, hospital IT departments, and external vendors to gather technical requirements and align on project expectations.
- Apply standard healthcare data formats and protocols such as HL7, JSON, and XML to ensure seamless system interoperability.
- Diagnose and fix technical issues in data interfaces to maintain reliable and accurate information transfer.
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and thoroughly documented code tailored to the unique workflows of each healthcare or lab environment.
- Perform rigorous testing and validation to confirm interface accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
- Continuously monitor interface performance and optimize for speed, stability, and efficiency.
- Adhere to healthcare regulations including HIPAA, ensuring all data handling meets compliance and security standards.
- Support system updates, data migrations, and long-term platform improvements as required.
- Report progress, risks, and technical challenges to leadership through regular updates, meetings, and documentation.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, external partners, technical support teams, and internal staff.
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, implement and support/maintain interfaces that enable the exchange of patient and lab data between hospital systems (such as HIS and EHR) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Development of 3-4 concurrent interface projects, 10-15 projects yearly.
- Complete an interface project in 90 days, or as quickly as possible given lab/client resources and competencies
- Handle a proportionate share of support tickets for Corepoint environment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including clinical laboratory staff, hospital IT teams, and vendors to define requirements and technical specifications, and clearly set and maintain expectations, challenges, and proposed solutions.
- Implement industry-standard protocols and data formats, such as HL7, JSON or XML, to ensure interoperability between systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve interface-related issues, ensuring timely and accurate data flow between systems.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for interface development and integration, without flaws, taking into account the specific needs and idiosyncrasies of each lab and hospital/medical practice
- Conduct testing and quality assurance to validate interfaces, ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and integrity.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring efficient and reliable interface operations.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare standards, regulations (HIPAA, etc.), and best practices for patient data security.
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and other ongoing development efforts as needed.
- Communicate project status and issues to the management and other stakeholders through meetings, emails and key documents.
- Interact and clearly communicate with clients, industry peers, software support teams, and ELE staff as required.
