Responsibilities
- Oversee all technology systems, hardware, and software supporting fixed route and specialized transit operations for the City of Barrie
- Deploy and maintain computing hardware, software, and network infrastructure
- Deliver training, guidance, and strategic recommendations for technology planning and growth
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between the organization, client, and external technology vendors
- Provide daily user support for desktop, phone, and voicemail issues at various locations
- Install, configure, and routinely monitor, update, and patch critical systems and components
- Support setup and management of workstations, applications, telecom systems, file servers, Ethernet networks, cabling, and related equipment
- Coordinate or deliver training and technical support to organizational and client staff for system utilization
- Act as the lead authority on information technology matters
- Manage database structures, configurations, and associated resources
- Deliver reliable, high-quality customer service for IT-related inquiries and incidents
- Offer consistent desktop support to end users
- Handle installation and configuration of web-based applications
- Support network security tasks such as user access management, data backups, host protection, file permissions, and file system integrity checks
- Diagnose and resolve application issues to fix malfunctions and operational problems
- Report system failures and technical issues to the client, client support teams, and internal support channels
- Train users on operating systems and software applications
- Lead the planning, organization, direction, control, and evaluation of information systems operations
- Create, enforce, and revise policies and procedures for electronic data processing and computer system operations
- Engage with client representatives, technical teams, and management to define system needs, specifications, budgets, and schedules
- Manage and oversee computer systems budgets and spending
- Diagnose and resolve issues with hardware, software, and network operating systems
- Ensure ongoing protection and security of all technological assets
- Notify personnel of security incidents, password changes, or updates to security protocols
- Ensure lockout programs are properly implemented and maintained
